My Story
I have always been drawn to deep conversations and contemplative moments alone. Much of my life journey thus far has been driven by a fascination with the exquisite uniqueness of each person I meet and yet noticing, on another level, how similar we all are. Better understanding this interplay between Soul and Spirit, between Eros and Logos has been my calling for as long as I can remember. As a clinician and coach, I strive to illuminate the ways these forces are coalescing around my clients presently and how they might better align themselves with these forces and harness them to achieve their goals moving forward.
My mindfulness training has primarily been in the lineages of Zen Buddhism, Neoplatonic philosophy, and Hatha Yoga (lay ordination with Tenshin Reb Anderson of the San Francisco Zen Center in 2019, BA with high honors in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Marlboro College in 2016, and teacher training with Tias Little of the Prajna Yoga school in 2013, and, philosophy and religious studies).
I am currently a Psychotherapist Trainee at the Liberation Institute and a graduate student at Pacifica Graduate Institute. My focus is on the integration of transpersonal and somatic approaches to psychotherapy through a Jungian lens. In my personal life, I enjoy balancing deep thinking with movement. I’m a certified level-1 ATG Coach, a certified Yoga Instructor with +10 years of experience, and a Writing Coach with +8 years of experience. I have also completed instructor certifications in Kingian Nonviolence organizing and Right Use of Power management.
Archetypal Psychology
From an Archetypal perspective, our selfhood develops out of, and in continual conversation with, a much greater ocean of impersonal psychic energy. We call this primordial force manifesting through our dreams, yearnings, and fears, Eros. On this view, we're all shaped and motivated by these archetypal erotic forces, and in response to our environment, we learn to relate to them in various ways that create the foundations of our unique personalities. Our growth, then, comes from becoming more aware of the myriad desires and fears moving through us and learning how to integrate them into more conscious forms of expression.
Existential Philosophy
From an Existential perspective, there are certain aspects of life and the world that are eternally true in all times and places. We call these perennial truths the presence of Logos. Learning how best to align ourselves with these realities is the heart of the art and craft of living well. In the face of perennial truths, such as we all have been born and will eventually die--neither of these we have any choice over--we have an innate potential to realize transcendent meaning and profound intimacy. While this freedom is our birthright, we must practice embodying it in the vicissitudes of our daily lives.
